Interfaith Encounters - General Study Sessions

DESTINY - Re-launch of the Mt. Scopus Students Interfaith Encounter Group on 3rd March 2008:

Talking – Students Group for Interfaith Encounter
Summary of Encounter #1

The encounter took place with 10 participants on March 3rd.

After short introductions about the group (by Yael and Yael) and about IEA in general (by Yehuda), we read the texts we had prepared and copied for each participant. Following the reading of the texts we held a conversation.

We focused on the theme of "destiny" in Judaism, Islam and Christianity and the texts we used a a basis for our conversation came from the Koran, the Hebrew Bible and the New testament.

Most of the conversation focused on the Muslim perspective, with most of the questions addressed to one of the participants who was a Muslim. Very little time was spent on the Christian perspective.

Since all participants, except one, preferred Hebrew – the encounter took place in Hebrew.

For the next encounter:

We will send an email message to the group's mailing list (of some 40 addresses).
Due to the semester vacation we will hold the next encounter, during the vacation, outdoors – in a site with religious/cultural value.

Group's Coordinators: Yael Gidanyan & Yael Gertel
