Interfaith Encounters - General Study Sessions

Encounter Point - IEA Reut-Sadaqa on 19th November 2007:

On Monday, November 19th, IEA Reut-Sadaqa met at the Swedish Theological Institute for their monthly meeting. This meeting, though, was quite different than our regular meetings as we decided to screen the movie "Encounter Point." We had two women join our meeting from Just Vision (the company that produced the movie), Joline Makhlouf and Anat Langer-Gal.

We chose to show this film as it followed the stories of ordinary people who felt driven to work for an end to bloodshed in favor of peace. It did touch people one way or another and there was a rather lively discussion afterwards during our break with the two women from Just Vision. It showed people on both sides of the conflict, that despite the misgivings and fears that they had about the other and despite physical and emotional barriers which made it difficult to for them to meet, they still found ways to get together for dialogue.

We hope to be able to add to our regular meeting format – either showing films, or going on local outings together.
