3 Meetings of IEA's Sawa Rabina Forum for Interfaith Encounter in January and February 2008:

Summary of a Meeting of the Whole Sawa Rabina Forum

Present were 10 out of 22 members of the forum.

Issues discussed:

Regular updates:
Ms. Nada Abu Zaidan opened the meeting and greeted the present members.
Mr. Rizk Azam described the meeting of January 8th of the leadership of the forum.
Mr. Ahmed Aslan said that members should know that they have to attend meetings and that it is important to restore the good connection the forum had with the community center so that its members are full partners in the center's communal and social work.
Mr. Hana Shchade stressed that it is very important, both for the forum and the community, to restore the full activity as quickly as possible.
Ms. Samia Azam suggested a lecture on "Loving the Land".

Decisions:

1. Singing evening in February

2. Painting and sculpture exhibition on April

Roles:

Mr. Majed and Mr. Hamoud Katish will contact singers in the town
Mr. Ahmed Aslan will contact a guest singer from outside the town

Work plan till April 2008

On January 8th the forum's leadership met to summarize last year, learn lessons from past activities and events organized by the group and prepare work plan for the first quarter of 2008.

The conclusions of the discussion were:

Folklore evening in February for the whole town of M'ghar
Lecture and visit to the Hilwa in the eastern neighborhood, together with the Imam, in March
Week of the arts, dedicated to artists of all fields, to take place in the community center in April
General encounter of all members every month


Meeting of Officers of "Sawa Rabina" Forum

The meeting took place on Tuesday February 12th with 5 out of 9 officers.

The meeting dealt with changes in the forum's activity plan:

The singing evening can not take place as planned due to the passing away of the father of one of the singers
The "Golden Nature" project for senior citizens is planned to begin on February 16th with 6 meetings at the community center. It will be open to all people of the town and include the issues of health, memory and other health issues
There will be a training program for the "Sawa Rabina" Group during March, led by Mr. Yuri hershfeld

Decisions:

Panel in March on "Technology, Tradition and Customs in the Arab Society"
Mr. Hamoud Katish will contact the members of the panel by February 14th and invite them to the meeting
Mr. Mufid Azam will take care of media exposure
Mr. Rizk Azam will invite all members of the forum after finalizing coordination.
