Launch of IEA's 21st Group:
Hefapii (Health Equality for All People in Israel) at Hadassah Ein Kerem -
6th June 2007:
The first Hefapii meeting took place at the
Henrietta Szold/Hadassah-Hebrew University School of Nursing on 6th June. All except 3
people who attended work at Hadassah – Ein Kerem. The coordinators were
Anita & Vered.
The meeting began with everyone introducing themselves followed by a short
talk by Dr. Anita Noble in which she defined cultural competence and its
importance in healthcare delivery.
Dr. Yehuda Stolov, founder of the Interfaith Encounter Association in
Israel, provided an overview of the association's purpose and activities. He
informed us that everyone on the Hefapii mailing list will be added to the
association's mailing list. Hefapii is accepted as one of the groups of the
Interfaith Encounter Association in Israel.
Ms. Vered Kater guided the brainstorming session related to the group's
future activities. It was decided that the group's next meeting will
concentrate on different theoretical models in cultural competence in order
to serve as a basis of knowledge. Anita will prepare a lecture on this
topic.
Eisa Mualam agreed to be part of the organizing committee.
The group discussed what topics they would like to explore at future
meetings.
Dates and times for future meetings were decided. Hefapii invites all
healthcare professionals to attend meetings and become a part of this
effort.
